HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford police are investigating the city’s 14th homicide of the year after a man was shot Friday night.

The shooting happened in the area of 302 Bellevue Street, around 9:15 p.m. Lt. Aaron Boisvert said.

The suspect walked up to a parked car and shot the driver, Boisvert said. The victim sped off, before crashing into parked cars near the intersection of Sanford Street.

Nearby officers responded to the scene quickly. They discovered the victim was unresponsive and performed CPR.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Jordan Maddox of Hartford. He was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Boisvert said it appears the shooting was a targeted attack and between 10 and 20 shots were fired.
