Hartford Police identify man shot, killed on Bushnell Street


HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford Police have identified the man who was shot and killed on Bushnell Street early Monday morning.

Just before 1 a.m., police received citizen calls of shots fired and a person down in the area of 18 Bushnell Street. Upon arrival, officers located a man unresponsive in the roadway.

Police said officers and responding EMS tried to revive him. He was transported to Hartford Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

“At this point, we do have physical evidence of that scene. Our crime scene division is now processing that,” said Lt. Aaron Boisvert.

Police have identified the victim as 36-year-old Erick Rodriguez of Hartford.

Hartford police said this was not a random attack.

Police believe the victim and the suspect knew each other in some capacity. Police said they were both on foot.

Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert said this is the 31st homicide of the year.
