Teen dead, one injured after shooting on Magnolia Street, Hartford PD say

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Hartford police are actively investigating a deadly shooting at 157 Magnolia Street that happened on Saturday, April 10.

Police responded to the scene at around 4:45 p.m. on ShotSpotter activation. Two people were sent to the hospital.

Police confirm that one of the victims, later identified as Jamari Preston, 16, of New Britain, has died. Police say he was found in the back of a house with numerous gunshot wounds.

A second victim suffered an injury, but police do not know if they were shot.

Police said multiple firearms and shooters were involved in this incident.

On Friday, April 16, police told News 8 two suspect cars were found; both were burned. One was in Hartford, and the other in South Windsor.

Monday afternoon, Hartford Police reported their investigation revealed this shooting is connected to a shooting that happened only two hours earlier in the area of Nelson and Garden streets that left a 3-year-old boy dead.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with any information regarding the case is
