Hartford police make arrest in May shooting

The suspect in the murder of 44-year-old Hartford resident, Lydia Tirillo, is currently in custody and being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

Back in May, Hartford Police Patrol Division were dispatched to Enfield Street for a report of shots fired and a person down on the street.

Tirillo was transported to Saint Francis Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Hartford Police Major Crimes Division led the investigation with assistance from the Crime Scene Division and identified a lone suspect and probable cause.

The suspect, 26-year-old Byron Perry of Hartford, was arrested on November 1st. Police believe the incident stemmed from a dispute between the two.

At the time of the arrest Perry was also found in possession of narcotics and actively resisted arrest. The accused is in custody and is being held on charges of murder, carrying a pistol without a permit and $25,000 bond for possession of narcotics and interfering with police. 

Perry is to be arraigned Friday.
