Mohegan and Mashantucket tribes transfer $1 Million to state for Tribal Winds Casino project

The Mohegan and Mashantucket tribes have wired $1 Million to the state as a first step towards building their new casino in East Windsor.

The money for the Department of Consumer Protection is meant to offset the state’s regulatory costs prior to the casino opening.

It is the first step in the ongoing process to finance, construct and open the Tribal Winds Casino.

MGM, which opened a casino in Springfield last year, is still pursuing legal action to try and stop the East Windsor project.
