NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTNH) — A male juvenile has been detained after a threat was made to a New Britain elementary school on Wednesday.

Around 8:30 a.m., officers were called to Smalley Elementary after they received a 911 call regarding a threat to the school.

The elementary school and New Britain High School went into lockdown while police investigated.

Officers tracked down the person they believe made the call. He was then detained and is being handled “accordingly.”

The incident was later determined to be a hoax. The lockdown was lifted.
