PLAINVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) — A tree company worker died days after falling to the ground while inside a bucket truck in Plainville, according to authorities.
Plainville police said 59-year-old Michael Holcomb of Bristol died from his injuries on Sunday.
Officers, firefighters and emergency medical crews responded to Hollyberry Lane Wednesday morning for the report of a work accident called in by the tree service team. Police said first responders found Holcomb partially trapped by the bucket and suffering from severe head trauma.
Holcomb was taken to a hospital and then flown to a different facility, where he was in critical but stable condition.
An initial investigation showed that the boom for the bucket truck failed while Holcomb was cutting tree limbs, causing the bucket and worker to fall to the ground.
Police have not yet released the name of the company Holcomb was working for at the time of the accident.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating.
