PD: Cheshire teacher arrested in Simsbury after sitting intoxicated in vehicle, injuring officers

SIMSBURY, Conn. (WTNH) - A teacher is facing charges in Simsbury after allegedly injuring three officers while he was intoxicated.

According to police, on Friday around 10:30 p.m., units responded to a residence on Winslow Place for a report of a possible intoxicated person sitting inside of a vehicle.

At the scene, units found Byron Pierce behind the wheel.

Police said Pierce resisted arrest and injured officers.

Pierce was charged with assault of public safety personnel, interfering/resisting arrest, and breach of peace.

Cheshire's Superintendent of Schools has confirmed with News 8 that Pierce is a Visual Arts teacher in the school district. 

The officers were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
