HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Police have identified the 21-year-old man who was shot and killed in Hartford early Wednesday morning.
Hartford detectives spent much of the day combing for evidence outside an apartment building on Spring Street. Police were called there shortly before 5 a.m. after the shot-spotter was activated.
“They located a single male victim on the street suffering from a single gunshot wound,” said Lt. Paul Cicero, Hartford Police Department.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Taylor Irizarry, of New Britain. He had just been dropped off when the shooting happened.
“We’re still combing through evidence right now looking for video that perhaps might be in the area,” said Cicero.
The shooting was right near exit 48, off of I-84 eastbound. People who live in the apartment building were asked to stay inside their homes.
“The whole area is a crime scene. We don’t anyone coming into the crime scene to adversely affect any of the evidence. If we are still searching for evidence, we can’t have people walking through,” said Cicero.
Police are now looking for the shooter. As always, anyone with information is asked to give them a call.
