The Enfield Police Department responded to a call at 8:57 p.m. of a man in the lobby who had been stabbed.

The 24-year-old was stabbed in the lower left side of his back and transported to a local hospital, officials said.

After an investigation, police found that the suspect, 28-year-old Daniel Anderson, was the victim’s on-and-off boyfriend for over a year.

The two men reportedly got into an argument in the Motel 6 parking lot and a struggle ensued, causing Anderson to stab the victim. Anderson then fled in a red Kia Sportage.

The police contacted Anderson by phone and he agreed to come down to the station. Upon his arrival, police charged him with first-degree assault, third-degree assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Anderson is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond. He will appear at Hartford Superior Court on Monday, Oct. 2.

Police said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
