Records show new information on officer involved in shooting in Wethersfield


Personnel records of the officer involved in the Wethersfield shooting have been released.

Personnel records of 26-year-old Officer Layau Eulizier show his former supervisors were concerned about his “unacceptable” performance and difficulty handling stressful situations.

Eulizier was a Manchester officer from 2015 – 2018. Records show he lost composure and made tactical mistakes in several incidents.Eulizier joined the Wethersfield Police Department in August.

Dash cam video was released of Officer Layau Eulizier firing the shots that killed Anthony Jose Vega Cruz, also known as “Chulo,” to his loved ones. 

Vega Cruz was seen on the dash camera driving away from police in his car and then driving at the office or on foot before he was shot. 

On Monday night, dozens of people from around the state filed into Wethersfield Town Hall.
