Suspicious letter found at Senator Richard Blumenthal’s Hartford office

A suspicious letter was discovered at Senator Richard Blumenthal‘s Hartford office midday Friday.

According to Elizabeth Benton, Connecticut Communications Director for Senator Blumenthal, the package was discovered midday Friday at his office on the tenth floor of 90 State House Square.

Police and firefighters examined the suspicious letter and determined there was no powder or toxins. No one was hurt, and there is no danger to the public.

The building remained operational while first responders were on the scene. No evacuations took place.

The situation was determined to be safe, and first responders left Blumenthal’s office by 12:40 p.m. Friday.
