Two injured, dozens displaced following fire in Hartford

Two people have been injured and dozens displaced following an early morning fire in Hartford.

Police say an officer on patrol was approached at 12:47 a.m. by a citizen who stated there was a fire at 57-59 Shultas place. The officer notified dispatch and assisted in getting residents out of the building before firefighters arrived.

Two residents were taken to Hartford Hospital with non-life threatening smoke inhalation and related injuries. 33 residents are temporarily being assisted by the Red Cross with shelter at local hotels.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the fire marshall’s office.
