Vacant building fire closes Garden Street at Capen Street in Hartford

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Crews are battled a fire in a vacant building in Hartford.

The incident was reported after 5 a.m.

Police said Garden Street and Capen Street will be closed for several hours. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route.

The fire was under control around 7:30 a.m.

It was the site, 213 Capen St., of a partial building collapse in 2018. Officials said apartments on the second floor are under renovation.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

No injuries have been reported.
