The Connecticut District U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Friday that a West Hartford man has pleaded guilty to child porn charges

Officials say 37-year-old Mark Rohrer of West Hartford, pleaded guilty Thursday in New Haven federal court to one count of child porn.

According to court documents, Rohrer created a user account on a “dark web” internet site that promoted child pornography.

Rohrer used Bitcoin to download images and video of children in January 2016.

Investigators raided his home in April 2018, and discovered child pornography on his home computers.

Rohrer faces anywhere between 5-20 years in prison when he is sentenced. Officials say a sentencing date has yet been selected.

Rohrer was released on a $50,000 bond pending sentencing.

Authorities say the investigation is currently being conducted by Homeland Security, the West Hartford Police Department, and Connecticut State Police.
