Woman arrested for allegedly slashing someone with bottle

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say a Connecticut woman is facing charges for allegedly smashing a glass bottle over a woman’s face outside a restaurant.

Hartford police Lt. Paul Cicero says 40-year-old Avon resident Ronda Heard is accused of hitting a woman with a bottle and breaking it over her face after an argument broke out on March 28 in Hartford.

Heard was arrested Saturday and faces first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment charges.

Cicero said the victim went to the hospital and then went to the police. Cicero said police got a warrant for Heard’s arrest in July.

The Hartford Courant reports her bail was set at $50,000. It was not made immediately clear if Heard had a lawyer, but she told investigators that it was a case of self-defense.
