Barkhamsted recreation area closed for swimming for the rest of the summer

BARKHAMSTED, Conn. (WTNH) — The Metropolitan District (MDC) has announced that the Lake McDonough Recreation Area in Barkhamsted will be closed for swimming for the rest of the summer.

While the area will be closed for swimming effective Monday, August 15th, the boat launch and rentals will remain fully operational for users throughout the Labor Day weekend. The entire facility will close for the season on Tuesday, September 6th.

The MDC says while they regret any inconvenience, this action is necessary to ensure the safety and security of all of our recreational users.
