State Police investigate active shooter incident on Litchfield town green


LITCHFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Connecticut State Police have arrested one suspect in connection to an active shooter incident in Litchfield on Saturday.

Police said at approximately 5:18 p.m., Litchfield received reports of an active shooter on the Litchfield Green on Route 202.

Pictures sent into News 8 show the massive police response and the moment the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect had fired multiple shots into the air and was taken down by a family member before police arrived.

State police said the suspect has been detained and transported to the hospital for mental health issues. Charges are pending.

No injuries were reported and there is no current threat to the public.

The investigation is ongoing. Route 202 has reopened.
