Watertown PD arrest second suspect in home invasion


Police arrested a Bridgeport woman after she and two other suspects committed a kidnapping and home invasion in Watertown on April 23.

Police said Karitza Zavala-Gomez, 20, was arrested on Monday and was identified as the driver and co-conspirator of the incident.

Police said the male victim met with Zavala-Gomez at his house and she drove him a short distance away. She then stopped the car and let two male suspects into the car, the the victim told police.

One of the identified suspects, Youssef Mohammed, 22, then pointed a Colt .45 handgun at the victim and asked the victim for “the money and drugs”.

They then drove back to the victim’s house and took a large amount of cash and some electronics.

No one was injured.

Zavala-Gomez received multiple conspiracy charges including kidnapping with a firearm and burglary. She was held on a $250,000 bond for arraignment on Tuesday at the Waterbury Superior Court.

Police arrested Mohammed on May 8.

Police believe the victim was specifically targeted and the incident was not random.
