Woman charged with sale of narcotics following Torrington heroin overdose death


A woman has been charged with sale of narcotics following an investigation into the overdose death of another woman early in 2019.

On Jan. 29th, officers responded to a residence on Thompson Heights for a report of a cardiac arrest. Police learned a woman had overdosed on heroin. She was brought to a local hospital where she later died.

After an investigation, authorities said that 27-year-old Chelsey Birden sold heroin to the victim.

Birden was charged with sale of narcotics and was held on a court set bond of $100,000. She appeared in court on Tuesday.
