MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) – Two people are seriously injured after a crash Thursday morning on Route 9 in Middletown, according to police.
Police said officers responded to the crash around 5:07 a.m. to the area of Route 9 South and Miller Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two vehicles heavily damaged and a victim who was lying in the southbound lane.
A preliminary investigation shows that a 2008 Toyota Corolla was exiting Miller Street and was trying to cross Route 9 southbound when it collided with a 2018 Nissan Rogue.
Police said a passenger of the Corolla was ejected through the windshield. Both the passenger and the driver of the Corolla were transported to Hartford Hospital where they are in critical condition.
The driver of the Rogue was transported to Middlesex Hospital and it said the be in stable condition.
Connecticut State Police said all Southbound lanes were closed on Route 9 between Exits 27 and 25 due to the crash, but have since been reopened.
The crash is under investigation.
