Increased police presence at Middletown, North Haven high schools due to reports of threat

There was an increased police presence at both Middletown High School and North Haven High School on Monday morning due to reports of a threat.

According to the Middletown Police Department, there are extra patrols at Middletown High School due to an alleged threat that was made to the school which was later investigated and determined to be unfounded.

However, additional security will be working with the school resource officers and be at the school for precaution.

North Haven police say that schools in their town were placed in lock down Monday morning after two students reported a threat to the school resource officer.

According to police, it was determined that a student who is out of state on vacation read a post about the Middletown school threat investigation. She then sent a message telling her friends not to go to school today.

It was determined that there was no threat to North Haven schools.
