MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — The Russell Library in Middletown will no longer charge overdue fines.

The fines will be eliminated starting July first. Library officials say people who owed money stopped returning things and using the library.

By removing the fees, they say a big barrier has been removed for those people. The library stopped overdue fines for children’s and teen books a few years ago.
