Middlesex

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) —  Middletown police are investigating what caused a tanker truck and a car to collide Wednesday morning.

Police responded to an accident on Route 9 in Middletown Wednesday morning. The accident involved a tanker truck and a car near exit 16.

Investigators say the truck’s fuel tank ruptured before the crash. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection arrived at the scene to handle the clean up.

Police say there were no fatalities, but at least one person was taken to the hospital. They did not release any information about the severity of the injuries, out of respect for those involved.
