MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — A motorcyclist from Portland died after colliding with a car Sunday night on Hartford Avenue in Middletown.

Daniel Richer, 54, sustained a serious head injury during the crash. He was transported to Middlesex Hospital and airlifted to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar.

Richer died due to his injuries on Tuesday shortly after midnight, police said.

The driver of the other car in the collision, a Jeep grand Cherokee, was uninjured.

While the collision is still under investigation, police said witness testimony suggested Richer was traveling west on Hartford Avenue when he crossed the centerline and struck the Jeep head-on.
