Multiple animals perish after early morning barn fire in Old Saybrook


At approximately 2:21 AM, the Old Saybrook Fire Department wa dispatched to a report of a fully involved barn fire on Middlesex Turnpike. 

As a result of the blaze, none of the animals survived the fire. It is unclear just how many animals perished this morning. 

Middlesex Turnpike was closed for a period of three hours while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. 

Old Saybrook Fire Department received assistance with water tenders from the Essex and Westbrook Fire Departments. Old Saybrook Ambulance and Police Department were also on sene. 

The fire is still under investigation as authorities work to determine just what caused this incident to occur.
