New statue in Killingworth dedicated to the Civilian Conservation Corps

Killingworth unveiled a new statue on Saturday, honoring the Civilian Conservation Corps.

The CCC, which provided jobs for young, unemployed men during the Great Depression.

Over its 9-year lifespan, the CCC employed about 3 million men nationwide.

People from many rural communities have been fundraising for years to get a statue put in place.

This is the first statues in Connecticut to honor the CCC.
