State police are investigating an airplane incident at the Goodspeed Airport in East Haddam Saturday morning.
Police say at around 10:30 a.m., a small single engine propellor plane failed to take off.
Police say the 2005 Jhilivan Kappa Kp5 plane sustained damage to its lower side, near the landing gear.
The pilot and passenger instructor were not injured. They say the plane crashed downward as they were trying to take off. It went off the runway and came to a final rest in a nearby field, 95 feet from the runway.
The FAA will join state police on the investigation.
