‘Recovery Sunday’ in North Branford provides forum for sharing addiction stories

New Haven

It was a different kind of sermon at a North Branford church over the weekend.

The Congressional Church in that town hosted “Recovery Sunday.”

They welcomed folks who came in to tell their stories of addiction.

Many of them said religion has helped them stay sober.

“I think with the growing epidemic out there of addictions and the different kinds of things that people are facing, we really saw this as our first attempt to get the word out to let folks hear the stories of people who have actually bottomed out in their lives,” explained Pastor Vance Taylor with the North Branford Congregational Church.

He said they’re hoping it will help others seek help and inspire members of his congregation to help others.
