WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A man died at a hospital on Thursday night after being shot in Waterbury, according to police.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Denroy Robinson of Waterbury, was shot at about 7:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Circular Avenue, according to officers.
According to police, Robinson was shot at a party that got out of control. Police do not believe there is any danger to the community, and this was an isolated incident involving a disturbance between two people who knew each other.
Police said the incident escalated, resulting in the shooting of Robinson multiple times.
“My daughter and I came downstairs and thought she heard gunshots. I thought they were firecrackers. And I just ran across the street and saw a gentleman in the grass and just try to roll them over… myself and my other neighbor, we’re doing CPR and trying to get a pulse back. We did for the time being, but that’s about all I know,” said Jamie Sharkey, a neighbor who witnessed the aftermath of the shooting.
Waterbury police are searching for the suspect and say they are following up on good leads.
This is an active investigation.
