New Haven

The ‘Hoop It Up’ 3-on-3 basketball tournament is coming back to New Haven this weekend.

The  competition features three-person basketball teams from Hartford, Bridgeport, and Waterbury. 16 courts will be set up on Church Street. The event draws kids from all over the state.

“CB3B is meant to help kids from around Connecticut learn about teamwork. playing with teams from Hartford, Bridgeport, Waterbury and New Haven also helps them learn how they are a part of a bigger picture,” said Mayor Toni Harp.

“If you have young people at home looking to engage looking for something to do this weekend we invite them to come participate, it’s an experience I think that they’ll never forget. We really do transform Church Street and make it an outdoor park,” said Jason Bartlett, Director of Youth Services.

The outdoor park will include a 40-foot obstacle course, rock climbing wall, and more family-fun activites on the green.

Trainers will also give kids health and wellness tips.
