46-year old New Haven resident found lying on the sidewalk dies from gunshot wound

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) - New Haven Police confirmed on Friday that the New Haven man who was found lying on a sidewalk died from a gunshot wound to the head.

According to police, New Haven first responders and officials were dispatched to a report of a man down on Diamond Street near Roger White Drive in the Beaver Hills neighborhood early Thursday morning at 5:41 a.m.

Police say that an unknown black male was found lying on the sidewalk and medical personnel began rendering medical assistance. The man was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where a he was pronounced dead.

Detectives were able to confirm the identity of the man as David London, 46 of New Haven.

On Friday, the revealed that London died as the result of a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say that this is an ongoing homicide investigation.
