It looks like 53 New Haven school teachers could be about to lose their jobs.
According to New Haven Superintendent Carol Birks.
School principals have recommended cutting 53 teaching positions next school year.
The impacted teachers have been notified.
She says the school board and city alders have signed off on the staffing changes.
Impacted teachers could be offered other jobs within the district.
The move is expected to save the district about 3.7 million dollars.
