New Haven

A 9 year old boy who was shot after police believe he was looking for his basketball has been released from the hospital. According to police reports, the boy was dishcarged from the hospital Tuesday after having been admitted on April 30th.

New Haven Police believe the boy was playing basketball on a court near his home when other boys joined the game and left with his ball. The boy and his father then walked around their Dixwell neighborhood and started looking for the ball.

The boy, his mother, and his father got into a car and began traveling on Foote Street when the vehicle was shot at multiple times. The 9 year old boy was struck once in the pelvis and was driven to the hospital shortly after.

Investigators are continuing to ask for anyone with information regarding this incident to call the New Haven Police Department at 203-946-6304.
