93-year-old man rescued from a house fire in Branford

New Haven

A 93-year-old man was rescued from his home in Branford when it went up in flames on Tuesday morning.

Officials reported that the fire started at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Branford, West Haven and Guilford Fire Departments responded to the blaze and found a 93-year-old man trapped inside.

A good Samaritan noticed smoke coming from the home.

Branford Fire Department Chief Shaun Heffernan explained:

“He was unable to get the door opened so they kicked the door down and were able to walk him out and they were then assisted by EMS.”

There has been no word on what caused the fire. There were no other injuries.
