Ann Nyberg emcees New Haven Reads 7th annual Spelling Bee

New Haven

New Haven Reads 7th annual Spelling Bee was held this evening at Yale and it never disappoints.

News 8’s very own Ann Nyberg was proud emcee the bee.

Teams from all over the community get on stage in costume and take on words like succedaneum, which of course means one that succeeds to the place of another.

Money is raised at this event to help children read.

Volunteers at New Haven Reads work with hundreds of children each week and there are one-hundred more on a wait list.

If a child can read they can dream, and dreams can become reality.

If you’d like to volunteer to help a child contact New Haven Reads.
