Startling new details have emerged about an alleged serial killer from New Haven.
27-year-old Danueal Drayton was arrested last week after police in Los Angeles say he strangled and sexually assaulted a 28-year-old woman he refused to let leave after a date.
That was just one victim in what looks like a string of horrific crimes.
“And that’s when he just looked at me in the car and then jumped across, had both of his knees on top of my knees while my seatbelt was still on, and somehow pushed my gear into park. And I’m sitting here. He got two of his, like, h– two of his hands, stuck his whole thumb in my throat. And that’s why I still have the mark to this day,” said one of his victims.
This woman from New York City says she met Drayton on a dating app. but barely escaped with her life after she broke off the relationship.
“He kept his thumb there, and was like, “I’m– gonna kill you– I’m gonna kill you– I’m gonna kill you.”
After that, Drayton was arrested, then released–startling–as News 8 discovered through court records of violent crimes committed in Connecticut, terrorizing victim after victim.
He was sentenced to prison for three years for strangulating his then girlfriend in East Haven. A chilling pattern, as the woman said she tried to end the relationship, he choked her, and she lost consciousness, thinking she was going to die.
Drayton had several arrests after that, including, harassment, violating a protective order, and second-degree harassment in New Havne back in January.
Drayton claims to have committed seven murders, although authorities have not been able to verify the crimes ever occurred.
For one woman coming forward, feeling lucky to have escaped with her life:
“I feel highly blessed, and I thank God every day about it.”
