Robert Barry pleaded guilty Wednesday to a count of wire fraud related to theft from elderly client trust accounts.
Authorities said the 77-year-old Southbury attorney began defrauding his clients over a decade ago by stealing money from their trusts while they were alive and after they had died.

Barry had more than 70 clients in the Southbury probate court district alone when federal authorities began investigating his actions.
Barry was released on $100,000 bond pending sentencing. He declined to comment after Wednesday’s hearing in federal court in Hartford.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 4.
