Body discovered in river on West Haven/New Haven line

Police have confirmed with News 8 that a body has been found in the area of Boston Post Road on the New Haven line that border’s West Haven.

According to the West Haven Police Department, the body of a female was located near the West Haven banks of the West River at around 2:30pm Friday.

Emergency crews from West Haven assisted the New Haven Fire Department in retrieving the woman from the water behind the Splash Car Wash on Boston Post Road. 

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. 

While police are calling this incident an untimely death, there are no further details at this time as to the cause of the death. 

The incident remains under investigation.
