Branford book sale aims to raise money for local library

New Haven

BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A giant book sale is taking place on the Branford Green to raise money for the local library.

70,000 books are on sale this weekend, including more than $10,000 children’s books.

The books are being sold for just a few dollars each.

They’re sorted into categories for easy shopping, and all of them were donated.

“It’s one of the biggest fundraisers we do for the Blackstone Memorial Library,” explained tent manager Mary Grande. “It’s run by The Friends of The Library, and we give the community a chance to peruse books at their leisure on a beautiful fall weekend.”

They’ll be out there on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 midnight and on Sunday from 12 noon until 3 p.m.

On Sunday, you can buy a bag for $10 and stuff as many books in there as possible.

They’re also selling hot dogs and other snacks.
