Canal Dock Boathouse opens in New Haven

New Haven

Something new is coming along New Haven’s Long Wharf.

The Canal Dock Boathouse is officially open.

A grand opening ceremony was held on Monday.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro was there because she helped get more than $27 million in federal funding to complete the project.

“A boathouse is a launching off point. You go from land to water, connect where you are and where you want to go, and in so many ways, this boathouse serves as much of the same,” DeLauro explained.

The canal dock offers a waterfront promenade, boat storage and a handicap accessible ramp for canoes and kayaks.
