Candidate hopes to be youngest ever on Meriden school board

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) - A young man from Meriden is trying to make history in that city. 22-year-old Parrish Holloman is running for a seat on the Meriden School Board.

If elected, he might become the youngest person ever to serve on the Board of Ed there.

"My platform is hashtag "the voice of the youth...My main thing is I want to be the liaison between the community and the board of education," said Rev. Parrish Holloman. "I believe in diversity, but not just color diversity, age diversity."

The Democratic Town Committee has not made any endorsements yet.

Holloman is already an Associate Minister at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Middletown.

He's also best friends with Middletown school board member Edward Ford, one of the youngest Black Republicans ever elected in Connecticut.

Holloman credits Ford with inspiring him.
