Crews in North Haven ready for winter weather on Tuesday

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) - Plow trucks were ready and drivers fueled up before the snow started falling on Tuesday morning.

"We're in New England, we should know how to drive in it for the most part. Some people don't. It happens. It does," said Jeff Williston of North Haven.

For folks who do have to venture out on Tuesday, public works crews across the state are fully staffed.

In North Haven, they've got their fleet of 14 plows gassed up, cleaned, and loaded with what they call "magic salt."

"It won't freeze up. Once you treat the roads, it will not freeze the roads. Below zero and it will stay wet," explained Michael Landino with North Haven Public Works.

Landino said they're still waiting for the big storm.

"Very mild. It's a lot of this snow and ice and rain mix. Hasn't been straight-up snow," Landino said of this winter so far.
