Hamden fire crews responded to a shopping plaza on Friday morning to investigate the odor of natural gas

The Deputy Fire Chief tells News 8 that the Hamden Fire Department is on scene at 2380 Dixwell Avenue investigating the odor of natural gas.

A representative from Southern Connecticut Natural Gas is also on scene assisting.

According to officials, while an odor is present, meters have not indicated a dangerous level of gas in the areas that they have checked so far.

Fire crews are working with the SCNG representative to find the source of the odor. They are also working with business owners at the plaza to check each of their spaces.
