Dead body found on Shelton Avenue identified as missing New Haven man

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Police in the Elm City are investigating after a dead body was discovered on Shelton Avenue.

The body was found in the rear of a field at 51 Shelton Avenue Tuesday morning.

Police on scene originally said they believed the deceased was a homeless person.

Police later identified the man as 83-year-old Michael DiMaggio of New Haven, who had been missing since October 12. A Silver Alert was later issued for him.

According to police, there is no foul play suspected in DiMaggio’s death.
