WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — The FBI continues to look into a cyberattack that hit Eastern Connecticut Health Network and Waterbury HEALTH earlier this month.
The attack caused emergency departments at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital to temporarily divert ambulance services
The attack has impacted facilities across several states operated by Prospect Medical Holdings. In Connecticut, the group oversees Waterbury Hospital and Eastern Connecticut Health Network.
News 8 reached out to the health care systems on Wednesday. They provided the following statements:
Statement from Lauresha Xhihani, director of communications and marketing for Waterbury HEALTH: “
Waterbury HEALTH’s computer systems are now back up and running and the health system is continuing to provide safe, quality care to patients following a data security incident that disrupted our operations. Work to input paper patient records used by our caregivers while our systems were down into our electronic medical record (EMR) system is ongoing.
We appreciate the resilience shown by our physicians and employees during this disruption and we thank our patients for their patience and continued loyalty to our facilities.
Delivering safe, quality care is our most important priority.”
Statement from Nina Kruse, chief communications officer and senior vice president of strategy at Eastern Connecticut Health Network:
“ECHN’s hospitals and affiliated providers are continuing to treat patients and our emergency departments are open. Our physicians, nurses, and staff are trained to provide care when our electronic systems are not available. Delivering safe, quality care is our most important priority.
