Fire dispatchers received an alert from a fire alarm coming from Scribner’s at 11:13 p.m. followed by a 9-1-1 call reporting smoke from the building.
The fire created a large cloud of smoke and the fire was visible from the rear of the building.
Milford Firefighters arrived at the scene and prevented the fire from spreading into three apartments located on the second floor of the structure. Firefighters were able to maintain the fire, but Scribner’s suffered major smoke damage.
Residents of the apartments evacuated the building prior to the fire department’s arrival.
The Milford Fire Marshal‘s division is on scene investigating the incident.
The Milford Fire Department advises everyone to properly check their functioning smoke and carbon monoxied detectors for safety against these dangerous incidents.
