Firefighter who fell at New Haven training academy doing “fine”

The Providence firefighter who fell at the New Haven training academy is home from the hospital, News 8 has learned. 

Richard Rand says he’s “doing fine.” He did not  speak on the nature and extent of his injuries.

Based on initial reports, Rand suffered multiple broken bones Thursday after falling from the 5th floor of the training tower while practicing on the pompier ladder at the New Haven Regional Fire Training Academy. 

Sources familiar with the incident say he was training with an old piece of equipment when he fell from the very top of it.
