Frontier Communications looking to hire more than 100 people in Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Dozens of people showed up at the Frontier Communications building on Orange Street Wednesday to take part in a job fair, as the company is looking to fill more than 100 jobs here in the state in the coming months.

“I’m just looking to see what opportunities are in the job market,” said Tamiepko Cuffee of Bridgeport. Due to consolidations at her current job, she will be out of work in December. That’s why she’s looking for a new job.

“I’m a strong believer that the Lord doesn’t close one door unless he opens another door. I believe there will be opportunity,” said Cuffee.

Some of the positions Frontier is looking to hire for include:

  • Supplies Attendant (CT130)
  • Motor Equipment Inspector/Maintainer (CT150)
  • New Haven Sales Consultants
  • Sales Engineers Sr.
  • Staff Auditor
  • Account Executive, Small Business
  • HRIS Analyst — Consultant
  • Senior Accountant, Revenue Team
  • Financial Systems Analyst
  • Hyperion Administrator
  • Sales Recruiting Manager — Temp to Direct
  • Senior Accountant — Fixed Assets

“We have retirement, great health benefits and great wages and this is a union job and it’s a job that has a future,” said Bill Henderson, president of Communications Workers of America Local 1298.

The hiring comes amid numerous layoffs at prominent Connecticut companies; most recently at Sikorsky Aircraft, as well as thousands of state workers. General Electric also opted to move its world headquarters out of the state. Frontier tells News 8 the plan is to expand in the coming years.

“We continue to grow, We continue to take business. We continue to expand our investments in the state,” said Ken Arndt, president of East Region for Frontier. “As we grow we need to add people.”
