Hamden creates town committee dedicated to finding a new police chief

Hamden’s mayor has announced a new committee tasked with finding out what the community wants in its new police chief.

The committee is called the Hamden Police Chief Community Input and Transparency Committee.

They will hold input sessions, provide recommendations, research key recruitment strategies, and will interview applicants.

The recommended candidates will then be interviewed by Mayor Curt Leng.

The committee will meet for the first time next week.

Right now, John Cappiello is serving as acting chief.
